What Gag(s) Does It Take To Defeat a Certain Cog?

Part 1: The Cog’s Hit Points
Part 2: Gag Damage Points
Part 3: How Gag Damage Bonuses Work
Part 4: Sound Gag Combos for Multiple Toons
Part 5: Other Gag Combos for Multiple Toons
Part 6: Gag Strategies for Mints and DA’s Office
Part 7: Combos for Level 7 Gags

Part 1: The Cog’s Hit Points
-------------------------------------

You can calculate which gags will do the job by looking at the cog’s level. Every cog has a certain amount of hit points, which is his health. All cogs of the same level have the same amount of hit points, whether they are bossbot, lawbot, cashbot or sellbot. The formula to determine a cog’s total hit points is: the cog’s level plus 1 times the cog’s level plus 2. For example for a level 5 cog it’s: (5+1) multiplied by (5+2) or 42 hit points. The only exception is the level 12 cog which is 200 hit points. So we can make the following chart:

L1 = 6
L2 = 12
L3 = 20
L4 = 30
L5 = 42
L6 = 56
L7 = 72
L8 = 90
L9 = 110
L10 = 132
L11 = 156
L12 = 200

When a cog is hit with that amount or greater of damage points from, gags, lure bonuses and same gag track bonus he will be destroyed!

Part 3: How Gag Damage Bonuses Work:
------------------------------------------------------

Gag damage bonuses increase the amount of damage done by gags. Certain combinations of gags give bonuses. There are 2 kinds of gag damage bonuses; a lure bonus and a same gag track bonus.

When you hit a cog, the gag’s damage is shown by a red number. This damage amount is shown floating upwards above the cogs head. Then the lure damage bonus is shown by an orange number. Then the same gag track damage bonus is shown by a yellow number.

How the Lure Damage Bonus works:
The first throw or squirt gag (or gags if they are from the same track) to wake up a lured cog may get a 50% damage bonus. Trap and sound never gets a lure bonus. Drop never works on lured cogs. Whether we receive the 50% lure bonus seems somewhat random. Except in the Factory, Mints and DA’s office where the first cog on the right of the row and the last cog standing receives a lure bonus.

Note: 2 traps on one cog will cancel each other out resulting in both traps being lost.

For example: Your 100 point Birthday Cake can get a L8 cog. With the 50% lure bonus its worth 150 damage and can get a L10 cog.

How the Same Gag Track Bonus works:
If two or more toons use the same gag track against the same cog they will be given 20% damage bonus.

For example: If you throw a 100 damage point Birthday Cake and another toon throws his 6 point cupcake, the gag damage will be 100 + 6 = 106. Same gag track bonus damage is 106 times 20% = 21. Total damage is 106 + 21 = 127. That’s enough to get a L9 cog! A 100 point Birthday Cake alone can get a L8. So when helping new toons even a cupcake or flower squirt can really help.

Another example: Two 40 point cream pies and two 27 point fruit pies thrown at the same cog does 160 damage, 40 + 40 +27 + 27 = 134. 134 *1.2 = 160. This is a handy way to take out those L10 and L11 cogs and save your powerful gags for later rounds. If the cog was lured then a 50% bonus may be received.

Part 4: Sound Gag Combos for Multiple Toons
------------------------------------------------------------

How many Fog Horns and Elephant Trunks does it take to get high level cogs?
When in the Cashbot Mints, Lawbot DA’s Offices, CFO battle, CJ battle and other areas for experienced players we encounter rows of level 10, 11 and 12 cogs. One trick to getting them in one round is for the toons to team up with their sound gags. For toons with maxed out sound gags, 4 Fog Horns are never needed, even to get a L12 cog! You can tell if a toon’s sound is maxed by checking their gags on their Toon Detail Panel. If they have or have had an opera singer then their sound is maxed out. 4 toons using 2 Fog Horns and 2 Elephant Trunks can defeat 6 rows of L11 cogs as opposed to only 3 rows if all 4 use fog horns. The extra fog horns can be saved and used efficiently to defeat subsequent rows of cogs.

4 Toon Sound Combinations

3 Fogs + 1 Trunk = -205 damage = L12

2 Fogs + 2 Trunks = -170 damage = L11
2 Fogs + 1 Trunk + 1 Aoogah = -164 damage = L11
2 Fogs + 2 Aoogahs = -158 damage = L11

1 Fog + 3 Trunks = -135 damage = L10
4 Trunks = -100 damage = L8

3 Toon Sound Combinations

3 Fogs = -180 damage = L11
2 Fogs + 1 Trunk = -145 damage = L10
1 Fog + 2 Trunks = -110 damage = L9
3 Trunks = -75 damage = L7

I’ve noticed other toons are helpful in indicating what is needed. Certain speedchat phrases have evolved to have specific meanings. For example, if 4 toons are fighting a row of L10 cogs and a toon says “I’ll get this one!” and picks his fog horn, then the other three toons should choose Trunks. When he is using his last fog horn he might even let everyone know by saying “Sorry, I can’t.”

Another example is, if 4 toons are fighting a row of L11 cogs and a toon says “I’ll get this one!” and another toon says “Me too.” and they pick fog horns, then the last 2 toon should choose Trunks.

For a row of all L8 cogs, a toon my pick his Trunk and say “Follow me!” indicating that only 4 trunks are needed.

I’ve noticed that a popular gag combination the toons have been using for the CFO and CJ row of Cogs containing multiple L8’s and one L12, which is usually the first row of Cogs, is:
Toon 1: Fog (50) +
Toon 2: Trunk (21) +
Toon 3: Trunk (21) = 92 * 20% same gag bonus = 110 to get the L8’s.
Toon 4: Piano on the L12
This strategy saves the 2 fog horns which can be used effectively on subsequent rows of Cogs.

Part 5: Other Gag Combos for Multiple Toons
------------------------------------------------------------

The following chart can be used to help you match a gag with 1 other toon to defeat a high level cog. This chart assumes each gag is topped out to its maximum damage level. The charts format is: Toon 1’s gag + Toon 2’s = total damage = maximum cog level defeated. Often one toon can team up with another and use a smaller gag and save their high level 6 gags for subsequent rows of cogs where the process can be repeated in reverse. This can greatly increase the number of cogs that can be defeated. This is very handy in the mints, DA’s offices, CFO and CJ where we can encounter 48 or more level 10, 11 and 12 cogs on a single run.

Hose Gag Combos

4 Hoses = 144 = L10 * Lure = 216 = L12
3 Hoses = 108 = L8 * Lure = 162 = L11

Part 6: Gag Strategies for Mints and DA’s Office
---------------------------------------------------------------

Toons need to team up to get these tough cogs because a L10 needs 132 points of gag damage to get him; a L11 needs 156 points and a L12 needs 200 points! I’ve presumed that we don’t know which gags are treed here so that the combinations will work with all groups. From experience, I see that these combinations minimize the risk to all toons health and help ensure victory for all.

In the Mints and DA’s office we encounter row after row of 4 cogs each in the following combinations:

Combo 1: Cogs: 10, 10, 10, 10 (total gag points needed 132)
1st. Round: 1 Fog + 3 Trunks (nothing less)
It is very helpful to purchase the speedchat “I’ll get this one.” or “I got it.” and say it here while the cogs are lining up if you intend to use your fog horn.

Combo 2: Cogs: 11, 10, 10, 10 (total gag points needed 156)
1st. Round: 2 Fogs + 2 Trunks (to get all cogs)
or
1st. Round: 1 Fog + 3 Trunks (to get L10’s)
2nd Round needs 21 points of damage: 2 Aoogahs or 1 Fruit Pie and if needed 1 multi-toon heal and 1 single toon heal to heal the healer.

Combo 3: Cogs: 11, 11, 10, 10 (damage needed = 156)
1st. Round usually is: 2 Fogs + 2 Trunks = 170 damage (Often we hear “I’ll get this one.” and “Me too.” for this row indicating which two toons will be using fog horns.)
or 2 Fogs + 1 Trunk + 1 Aoogah = 164 damage
or 2 Fogs + 2 Aoogahs = 158 points

Combo 4: Cogs: 12, 11, 11, 11 (total gag points needed for L12 is 200, for L11 is 156)
Usually done in 2 rounds to save the sound gags for subsequent rows:
1st. Round: Piano and Trap Door or Piano and Fire hose for the L12, a Multi-cog Lure and TNT on a L11.
Note: The right hand cog on the row will get a lure credit; so it is best not to TNT him as trap never gets a lure credit.
2nd Round: A Birthday Cake and Cream Pie on each L11
or
1st. Round: 3 Fogs + 1 Trunk (nothing less) = 205 damage

Note: If only one cog is left standing and lured then 4 fire hoses will defeat him, even if he is fully healthy. This trick works for level 10, 11 and even the tough level 12 cog! This works because the last cog standing gets a lure bonus in the DA’s office. Fire hose is 30 damage * 4 toons = 120. 120 * 50% lure bonus = 180. 180 * 20% same gag bonus = 216. It’s a great way to save your powerful gags.

Note: Recently, I’ve been noticing that if a Level 11 and a Level 12 cog are destroyed in the first round and that leaves the rightmost cog and another cog standing; then the toons use 1 Storm Cloud and 1 Fire Hose on each cog and they have been receiving the lure bonus for both cogs.

Combos for when the big gags run out:
L12 = 1 Birthday Cake + 3 Fruit Pies = 217 damage
L12 = 1 Birthday Cake + 1 Cream Pie + 1 Fruit Pie = 200 damage
L11 = 2 Cream Pies + 2 Fruit Pies = 160 damage
L11 = 1 Birthday Cake + 1 Cream Pie = 168 damage
L11 = Lure + 1 Trap Door + (86 more damage points) 2 Cream Pies
L11 = Lure + 1 TNT = 180 damage
L10 = 4 Fire Hoses = 144 damage
L10 = 1 Birthday Cake + 1 Fruit Pie = 152 damage
L10 = 1 Safe + 1 Cloud = 140 damage
L10 = Lure + 1 Trap Door + (62 more) 2 Fruit Pies

Part 7: Combos for Level 7 Gags
------------------------------------------

Train + Lure + Trunk = 216 = L12 (only need 5 point sound)
Train + Lure = 195 = L11

O. Singer + 2 Fogs = 228 = L12
O. Singer + Fog + 2 Trunks = 218 = L12
O. Singer + Fog + Trunk = 193 = L11
O. Singer + 3 Trunks = 183 = L11
O. Singer + Fog = 168 = L11
O. Singer = 90 = L8
O. Singer * 20% Same Gag Bonus = 108 = L8

Wedding Cake + Birthday Cake = 264 = L12
Wedding Cake + Cream Pie = 192 = L11
Wedding Cake = 120 = L9
Wedding Cake * 20% Same Gag Bonus = 144 = L10
Wedding Cake * 50% Lure Bonus = 180 = L11

Geyser + Cloud = 222 = L12
Geyser + Hose = 162 = L11
Geyser = 105 = L8
Geyser * 20% Same Gag Bonus = 126 = L9
Geyser * 50% Lure = 157 = L11

Toontanic + Trunk = 201 = L12
Toontanic + Aoogah = 196 = L11

Good Luck!
